EVENT DETAILS:

The Minocqua Professional Police Association (MPPA) is hosting the 3rd annual Run with the Cops 5k. All proceeds will go to our non-profit association which helps fund several causes including our shop-with-a-cop program, helping families in need, donating to the Torch Run of Wisconsin and sponsoring school baseball teams. The goal of the MPPA is to not only host an event to support the community but to host a fun and relaxed event to create relationships with the community.

This year's theme will be to dress Hawaiian in hopes of the nice, warm weather coming!

The 5k run or walk will take place July 22, 2023 beginning at 9:00am. Day of registration will be available starting at 8:00am. The cost of the run will be $30 if pre-registered before July 1st, 2023. Pre-register by July 1st to get a shirt guaranteed in your size. Day of registration will be $35. Ages 12 and under can register for free. Medals will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers.

Run with the Cops 5k will take place and start at the Torpy Park Pavilion in Minocqua, WI.

Awards:

OVERALL WINNERS – Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female win Overall Medals

Run with the Cops 5k will take place and start at the Torpy Park Pavilion in Minocqua, WI.  The route takes you around Lake Minocqua and finishes back at Torpy Park.

No Frills Marathon and Half Marathon 9-3-2023

The No Frills Marathon has been changed to an out and back run in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin passing lakes and marshes, crossing old wood bridges, and remain in the company of mature pines lining the route.  The Marathon and Half Marathon will be starting and finishing at the Bearskin Park trestle, downtown Minocqua

It's the Sunday before Labor Day. 

Please include your expected finish time.

The marathon course will be run on the Bearskin trail as an out and back course starting downtown Minocqua and finishing on the trestle in Minocqua.

Registration and packet pickup in person until Saturday, Sept 2 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Sunday, Sept 3, from 5:00 am to 7:00 am at the American Legion, downtown Minocqua, 121 W Front St.

Early start at 6:00 am by special arrangement; please check the box on the registration form if you wish to start early.  

No buses required.  Start and Finish downtown Minocqua.

The Minocqua No Frills Marathon™ & Half- Marathon keeps it simple and affordable because, at this marathon, it’s all about the race. The race accommodates those who aspire to run their first marathon, as well as veteran runners trying to better their times or qualify for the Boston Marathon (certification # WI22019DM).

Blue Raven's beneficiary partner this year will be the Lakeland Hawks Ice Hockey Association.  The Lakeland Hawks ice hockey program is a very successful youth hockey program in the Minocqua area.

ON PACE RACE will again be on the course to set the pace for your skill and ability level.  Look for their banner at the start of the Marathon and Half Marathon.   

 

Awards:

Marathon and Half Marathon Overall Male and Female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in larger gold, silver and bronze colored metal. 

Relay participants all receive a finishing medal.

There are no age group awards for this event.

All marathon and half marathon participants receive a medal for finishing the event.

Thank you for signing up to volunteer to man the Water Stations for the Minocqua No Frills Marathon. Select the water station with the arrival and departure time that fits your schedule. The location is identified with each selection.

Volunteers will receive a complimentary T-Shirt for up to 2 per water station. T-shirts may be picked up at the American Legion Saturday night during registration. You can sign up with your shirt size or register with "I don't want a t-shirt."

Volunteers provide water and Gatorade to runners as they pass their location. Water stations volunteers work 2-3 hours on the trail and are eligible for an event t-shirt. Runners, sign up your family. It's easy and entertaining.

Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. The tables, chairs, garbage can, garbage bags, water, and Gatorade will be delivered to each water station Saturday evening. Instructions for the water station are provided below and will be included in your confirmation email.

Some water stations will have gummy candies.  Put a few pieces in a cup for the participants.  Do not use up all the cups for gummies as water and Gatorade are the priority.

Water stations will have Gatorade and water in bulk coolers or in a case of bottles, please fill a cups 2/3 full and offer it to runners as they pass by.

Place your trash can a short distance down from your water table. Keep your area clean and pick up all trash before you leave.

Fold your table and chairs up and place the trash bag nearby. There will be a sweeping crew coming by to pick it up. Make it easy for them.

Check the weather. A jacket or rain gear or sun screen protection may be useful. Also, the water stations are located on a wooded trail. A cap and bug spray may prove valuable depending upon weather conditions.

Event Description

The marathon and half marathon courses will be and out and back run on the Bearskin/Hiawatha trail beginning and ending in Minocqua at Bearskin Park. The course is certified for the Boston Marathon (ID # WI22019DM) by an authorized Boston Marathon certifying agency. The race will start with a gun start so everyone has the same starting times. 

All races are out and back from the Bearskin Park near the trestle.  

Marathon:  7:00 am  (early start at 6:00 am is available)

Half Marathon:  8:00 am

5K:  9:00 am

Packet Pickup and registration:  

American Legion - Saturday 5:00 - 8:00 pm; Sunday 6:00 - 8:00 am

Paws on the Run Event Description

Start your day with a walk/run with or without your dog(s) before the Minocqua Paws in the Park event starts on Saturday, June 18.  The 5th annual race begins near Torpy Park on Lakeshore Drive and ends in the Bearskin Park after crossing the trestle. lot.   Event check in and Race Day Registration begins at 7:00 am at the Bearskin Park downtown Minocqua WI at the trestle.  The race starts promptly at 8:00 am.   If you don't have a dog, no worries, you can still participate in the event and join in the fun.  We have added an awards category for those who could not bring a dog.  This 5K event is open to anyone that enjoys being around mans best friend.

Only online registrations will be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Bring a leash or a running harness attached to your belt.  All dogs must be kept under control and be up to date on all vaccinations.  Owners are responsible for their dog's behavior.  This is a great excuse to get a little exercise and enjoy quality time with your dog.

Refreshments will be provided for both the owners and the dogs.

Event Check In

Check in on on Race Day will be held at Bearskin Park at the trestle from 7:00 until 7:45.  The race starts promptly at 8:00. 

There will be 2 Doggy Divisions:

30 lbs &Under and 31 lbs & Over

We have also added a "No Dog" division, Human mental health.

This year, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each division.

Minocqua Turkey Trot

Join us for the 5th Annual Minocqua Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk on Thanksgiving Day. The area's only Turkey Trot welcomes friends and families to trot through the streets and trails of Minocqua/Woodruff before the Thanksgiving feast begins. The Turkey Trot begins and ends at the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Woodruff.  The Race Director is Rick Goff, pastor at the Faith Evangelical  Free Church.  Contact him at rgoff59@gmail.com
