Join us for the 5th Annual Minocqua Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk on Thanksgiving Day. The area's only Turkey Trot welcomes friends and families to trot through the streets and trails of Minocqua/Woodruff before the Thanksgiving feast begins. The Turkey Trot begins and ends at the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Woodruff.

Event Description

Join us for the 4th Annual 2021 Minocqua Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk on Thanksgiving Day. The area's only Turkey Trot welcomes friends and families to trot through the streets and trails of Minocqua/Woodruff before the Thanksgiving feast begins.  The Turkey Trot begins and ends at the Evangelical Free Church in Woodruff.  The facility is perfect for hosting the event with warm areas for social distancing and convenient rest rooms.

We continue to plan for hosting a safe event.  Everyone entering the Church will be required to wear a mask and hand sanitize.   Social distancing will be enforced.  There will be an abbreviated award ceremony so everyone can leave with their awards without gathering inside.

The cost per individual is $30 for pre-registration $35 for day-of-event registration.  A 5K Family (up to 5 participants) can pre-register for $90; $100 on Race Day.

EVENT SHIRTS WILL BE GUARANTEED ONLY FOR THOSE REGISTERING ONLINE.

Blue Raven has partnered with the Evangelical Free Church to help community projects and support missionaries.  All sponsorship money will be split between the Lakeland Food Pantry and support of their mission in Guatemala.

Awards:

OVERALL WINNERS – Top Male and Top Female:  Receive a Turkey Trot First Place Medal and a Thanksgiving Turkey to take home.

AGE GROUP WINNERS -  1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place Male & Female:  Receive a Turkey Trot Medal

15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over

There will also be a costume contest.  The Best Costumes will receive a medal.

Only Fools Run at Midnight

The Event will not be produced in 2023 due to declining attendance.

EVENT DETAILS:

Come in Costume!  Registration begins at 8:30 at the in the south entrance of the school.  Take pictures in front of the Giant Running Fool located near the finish line.  The cost per individual is $30 for pre-registration $35 for day-of-event registration. A 5K Family (up to 5 participants) can pre-register for $90; $100 on Race Day.

T-Shirts are guaranteed if you pre-register online ONLY. Race Day participants may receive a shirt based upon availability.

Each person registering will receive a glow necklace to light your way around the course.

Buses will leave from the American Legion to the marathon and half marathon starting locations. No return trip offered at the completion of the race back to the start.

There will be 12 Aid Stations on the course plus the Finish.  The course aid stations will have water and Gatorade.   The finish line will have snacks, water, Gatorade, and beer.

The 5K will start at 9:00 near Torpy Park and end crossing the trestle in Bearskin Park.

Event Description

The marathon course will be run on the Bearskin/Hiawatha trails off of Heafford Rd, near Billy Bob's Sports Bar on County Road L near Tomahawk and finishing on the trestle in Minocqua. The course is certified for the Boston Marathon (WI21023DM) by an authorized Boston Marathon certifying agency. The race will start with a gun start so everyone has the same starting times. 

The half marathon starts near the intersection of Lakewood Rd and the Bearskin Trail.

The 5K starts near Torpy Park downtown Mincoqua, runs a loop around the lake finishing on the bearskin at the trestle.

Blue Raven's beneficiary partner this year will be the Lakeland Hawks Ice Hockey Association.  The Lakeland Hawks ice hockey program is a very successful youth hockey program in the Minocqua area.

ON PACE RACE will again be on the course to set the pace for your skill and ability level.  Look for their banner at the start of the Marathon and Half Marathon and connect with a pacer that will run at your skill level. 

 

Awards:

Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K - Overall Male and Female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and First Place Marathon Relay.

There are no age group awards for this event.

All marathon and half marathon participants receive a medal for finishing the event.

Paws on the Run Event Description

Start your day with a walk/run with or without your dog(s) before the Minocqua Paws in the Park event starts on Saturday, June 18.  The 5th annual race begins near Torpy Park on Lakeshore Drive and ends in the Bearskin Park after crossing the trestle. lot.   Event check in and Race Day Registration begins at 7:00 am at the Bearskin Park downtown Minocqua WI at the trestle.  The race starts promptly at 8:00 am.   If you don't have a dog, no worries, you can still participate in the event and join in the fun.  We have added an awards category for those who could not bring a dog.  This 5K event is open to anyone that enjoys being around mans best friend.

Only online registrations will be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Bring a leash or a running harness attached to your belt.  All dogs must be kept under control and be up to date on all vaccinations.  Owners are responsible for their dog's behavior.  This is a great excuse to get a little exercise and enjoy quality time with your dog.

Refreshments will be provided for both the owners and the dogs.

Event Check In

Check in on on Race Day will be held at Bearskin Park at the trestle from 7:00 until 7:45.  The race starts promptly at 8:00. 

There will be 2 Doggy Divisions:

30 lbs &Under and 31 lbs & Over

We have also added a "No Dog" division, Human mental health.

This year, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each division.

Volunteers will receive a complimentary T-Shirt for up to 2 per water station. T-shirts may be picked up at the American Legion Saturday night during registration. You can sign up with your shirt size or register with "I don't want a t-shirt."

Volunteers provide water and Gatorade to runners as they pass their location. Water stations volunteers work 2-3 hours on the trail and are eligible for an event t-shirt. Runners, sign up your family. It's easy and entertaining.

Some water stations will have gummy candies.  Put a few pieces in a cup for the participants.

Water stations will have Gatorade and water in bulk coolers or in a case of bottles, please fill a cups 2/3 full and offer it to runners as they pass by.

Place your trash can a short distance down from your water table. Keep your area clean and pick up all trash before you leave.

Fold your table and chairs up and place the trash bag nearby. There will be a sweeping crew coming by to pick it up. Make it easy for them.

Check the weather. A jacket or rain gear or sun screen protection may be useful. Also, the water stations are located on a wooded trail. A cap and bug spray may prove valuable depending upon weather conditions.
